MAURICIO HERRERO

Mauricio is a Costa Rican visual artist. He obtained his Master of Fine
Arts in Parsons The New School for Design, NY, NY.

His work

He also holds a Master in Visual Arts and Education from the University of Barcelona, and he is a Licentiate and Bachelor in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Printmaking from the University of Costa Rica.

Through his art practice, he interrogates the possibilities of contemporary printmaking and other processes, exploring divisions between categories, concepts, and territories. His work looks into the relations between economic and aesthetic value and new forms of exchange, as well as the complexities of regional divisions and boundaries.

Since 2020, he has been the founder and director of Casa 49 in San José, Costa Rica — a nomadic center for the exploration of ideas, curatorial and pedagogical processes, artistic research, and social practice.
