What is the Urban-Air Artist Retreat program?

The Urban-Air Artist Retreat strives to provide a haven away from the city for artists to connect to the environment to create new artwork. 

Artists deserve time to decompress from the noise and distractions of the city by creating and restoring themselves with nature.

Who is eligible for the Urban-Air Artist Retreat?

The Urban - Air Artist Retreat is open to artists ages 21 and over. Artists from different mediums of expression, such as painters, writers, and musicians, are invited to apply.

How long is the Urban-Air Artist Retreat?

The length of a stay is considered per the artist’s request. The artist will specify the duration of their stay on the application.

What are the requirements of the Urban-Air Artist Retreat?

Any artists in the retreat agree to have their new artwork exhibited at an Urban-Air Community Art Showcase or Gala event in Warwick, NY. They also agree to donate a piece of artwork to the Urban-Air archive. 

What is the deadline for applications?

Artists are welcome to apply on an ongoing basis and request specific times that work for their schedule.

How much does the Urban-Air Artist Retreat cost?

The Urban-Air Artist Retreat requires no expenses from the artist. However, the artist must provide their own transportation to the Artist Loft in Warwick, NY.

Where is the location of the Urban Air Artist’s Retreat?

The Urban-Air Artist Retreat Program is in Warwick, NY. The Artist’s Loft (the place of temporary residence for the artist) is within the historic Warwick area.

How can I find transportation to the Artist Loft?

The artist is responsible for transportation to the Artist Loft. If one doesn’t have their own vehicle, public transportation can reach the Artist Loft. A direct bus from NY Penn Station or a train to Tuxedo, NY, is about a 35-minute ride. Driving in from NYC takes about an hour and a half.

What does the Artist Loft consist of exactly?

The Urban-Air Artist Loft consists of a two-bedroom, two-bathroom, full open kitchen, living room, and a workspace garage with an enormous window for natural light and views of the environment. 

How many artists are in residence at a time? Can Groups Apply?

One individual artist or one group of collaborating artists are allowed at a time.

Can my husband/wife/partner stay with me? Are animals allowed?

If the artist has a spouse, partner, or other collaborators who would like to join them, they need to be at least 18 years or older. These guests will stay at their own expense and be approved by the foundation before your stay. No animals will be allowed.

Who keeps the rights to my artwork created during my stay?

All rights retained by the artist for all new artwork created.
